LANSING – Carol Higgins, candidate for state representative from House District 59, received the recommendation of the 5EG Coordinating Council of the Michigan Education Association (MEA).
Higgins is the only MEA recommended candidate in the district.
Higgins was a Marcellus classroom teacher for 17 years.
She was also active in the teacher's union, working closely with the school administration, the school board and teachers to resolve issues and maintain open communication.
"My combined experience in the classroom and with the union gives me many experiences that are valuable in forming policy in Lansing," Higgins said.
