Three public hearings Oct. 27

Dowagiac City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at City Hall, 241 S. Front St.
According to the draft agenda released Thursday, the council will acknowledge Dale Myer's journeyman lineman certification.
City Manager Kevin Anderson will report on Department of Public Services (DPS) vehicle replacements, the Grounds Department mower, the Grounds Department tractor bid award through the state purchasing program and compost site processing.
Two items fall under communications: from elected city officials indicating their compliance with Section 14.11 of the Dowagiac City Charter and from various city employees indicating their intent to transact business with their employer.
Council members will also consider a number of resolutions:
To approve a special land-use permit submitted by the City of Dowagiac to establish five apartments total on the second floor above 134 S. Front St. and 148 S. Front St., as recommended Oct. 6 by the city Planning Commission.
To set a public hearing for the Oct. 27 City Council meeting for a new industrial facilities exemption (IFT) for Ameriwood Industries.
To set a public hearing for the Oct. 27 City Council meeting for a new IFT for Premier Tool and Die Cast Corp.
To set a public hearing for the Oct. 27 City Council meeting for the transfer of IFT certificate 2004-047 to Premier.
To authorize the city manager to enter into agreements with ICG and Premier based on terms stated in a memo of understanding.
To authorize membership in the Indiana and Michigan Municipal Distributors Association (IMMDA).
To amend the 2007-2008 city budget since the fiscal year ended Sept. 30.
To authorize Finance Director David Pilot to spend $1,009.423.69 – $717,256.38 for bills and $292,167.31 for payroll.
