COLDWATER – The Niles soccer team was blanked 8-0 by host Coldwater Wednesday night in the opening round of the Big 16 Conference Tournament.

It was the first ever Big 16 Conference Tournament win for the Cardinals, who have set a new school record for wins.

Taryn Young had a goal and three assists for Coldwater, which got a hat trick from Sonya Bowers and two goals from Paula Madiera.

The Cardinals led 5-0 at halftime.

Niles will now host the next two rounds of the Big 16 tournament beginning on Monday at 5:45 p.m.

Wednesday’s match will have the varsity playing first at 4 p.m.
