Former Brandywine standout Kelli Zache has been named to the first team of the All-Mid-Central College Conference.

She has plenty of company.

Katie Boocher (Washington HS) led the way as the MCC Player of the Year for the second time in her Bethel career.

Currently Boocher is batting .519 on the season with 19 doubles, 18 homeruns, and 66 RBIs, which led the MCC in all four categories.

First team All-Conference selections for the Pilots were: Mandy Cripe (Northridge HS), Brittney Fisher (Moorseville HS), Holly Weaver (Lakewood Park Christian HS) and Kelli Zache.

Cripe, last season’s Player of the Year, batted .333 with six doubles and five home runs. Cripe was named an All-Conference performer all four years of her Bethel career.

Fisher had an outstanding year not only at the plate, batting .411 with 13 doubles, 11 homeruns and 49 RBI, but also did an excellent job shutting down opposing base runners with five pickoffs and nine runners caught stealing.

This year marks the third year that Fisher has been named All-Conference.

Weaver earned her second All-Conference award in as many years by batting .376 with 57 stolen bases.

As the offensive catalyst, Weaver scored a team leading 60 runs this season.

In her first season with the Pilots, Zache earned All-Conference honors by going 20-3 in the circle with a 1.85 ERA. Zache struck out a team-leading 161 batters during her senior campaign.

Ancilla College
DONALDSON, Ind. – In its final two games of the season, the Ancilla College softball team played from behind most of the day, but came up victorious in game two as they split with Kellogg Community College, losing game one 5-4 and winning the second game 7-6.

The Lady Chargers took a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning, when Kellogg pounded out five unearned runs to take the 5-3 lead. Ancilla notched one more run in the seventh, but was unable to plate any more runs, losing by one.

Justine McBride was 3-for-3 with a run scored, Amber Edmundson finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Lindsay Duke picked up two RBI in the loss.

Kellogg used its momentum from game one to jump out early on the Lady Chargers, scoring two runs in the second and third and one run in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.

Ancilla added its first score of the game when Meghan Brown and Kristen Helmick both doubled to combine for a run and cut the Bruin lead to 5-1.

Kellogg answered with an unearned run in the top of the seventh to take a 6-1 lead into the final frame, in which Ancilla made one of its largest comebacks in school history.

Amanda Thomason led off the top of the seventh with a single to center, which was followed by a Philippa Kindig walk. After a groundout that moved the runners to second and third, Brown singled to right to score Thomason and put runners on the corners.

Ancilla trailed 6-2. Duke loaded the bases with a walk and Helmick cleared them with a double to left. Ancilla trailed 6-5. After an infield fly out, Demi Schrader stepped to the plate with two outs and tied the game with a single to left.

Pinch hitter Kayla Bauer completed the dramatic comeback when she scored pinch runner Kendy Majors with a triple to the right-center gap.

Ancilla finishes the season 15-35 and 8-24 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference, seventh out of nine teams.
