A adult transition class will be held Mondays at Lake Michigan College Bertrand Crossing in Niles from May 10 through June 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Adults account for a significant number of students on college campuses across the country. At LMC, one in every three students is 30 or older. They return to school to change careers, to learn new skills that will help them earn promotions and to earn the credentials that employers are seeking in qualified job candidates.

To assist adults who want to further their education, Lake Michigan College is once again offering “College Essentials: A Guide for Adult Students,” a seven-week free workshop for adult students. The one-night-a-week sessions begin the week of May 10.

The workshop will show participants how college can lead to a new career, provide them with a personalized career assessment, review study skills, demonstrate how to use campus technology and services, and let them talk with other adult students, college faculty and staff and area employers about the benefits of the college experience.

Students who successfully complete the program earn a voucher for one credit of free tuition that they can use for the following semester.
