ND blog: Taylor Swift on the sidelines at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Things went probably about as well as they could for Notre Dame in the first half.

A 10-point advantage heading to the locker room have the Irish faithful feeling pretty good about themselves.

But Purdue can’t feel too bad either. Only trailing Notre Dame by 10 points after not playing very well on offense has been have it thinking better things are head in the final 30 minutes.

Here are some first half notes and stats:

  • Notre Dame ran for 107 yards in the first half and threw for another 123 for a grand total of 230 yards.
  • Armando Allen rushed for 51 yards on eight carries and scored on a career-best 22-yard run.
  • Dayne Crist is 12-of-16 for 123 yards in his first career start.
  • David Ruffer kicked a career-best 46-yard field goal.
  • Purdue has 165 yards in total offense. The Boilermakers have run for 79 yards and threw for 86. Marve is 13-of-18 with an interception in his first start.
  • NBC reported during the opening 30 minutes that Taylor Swift was on the sidelines. Her brother is a freshman at Notre Dame.
