It’s one thing to talk about being eco-conscious in the winter.

It’s a matter of caulking the windows, using the most efficient insulation, keeping out the cold. It’s an entirely different thing in the spring.

For those who haven’t noticed the movement to go green isn’t going away.

But the good news is, it turns out it’s not that hard to do either.

It can be as simple as getting the family in the habit of recycling or using reusable bottles for water.

More and more efforts are being made to make things around the world a little greener and some of those ideas are remarkably simple.

Cities are embracing the idea of green roofs, lining the rooftops with soil, growing plants and greenery.

Fully functioning green roofs are equipped with draining systems, which funnel the excess rainwater down drainage pipes into rain barrels, which can be used to rewater the rooftop if needed, or water outside gardens or plants.

Such a simple idea, really, that can easily turn city dwellers into eco-dwellers.

Recently more focus has been put on agricultural practices and the way those practices affect the health of soil. Where a lot of attention is given to the earth’s water supply, soil is not often thought of as being just as important but many experts say it is.

From commercial farming to organic co-op gardens, soil feeds many and keeps the earth breathing – without it countries and people suffer and seeking out those better practices should be a priority across the country.

Who knows, it might even put some people to work.
