Saint Mary’s Troop 579 is expanding its recycling program. For 30 years they have been in the paper drive program. In recent years they have added aluminum cans, cell phones and printer cartridges.
Their paper has been bought by Nu-Wool to make insulation and Hydro seed mulch. As of last month Nu-Wool will no longer take cardboard. After talking with Nu-Wool they gave the troop another contact to take cardboard.
They can now collect magazines, poly-film or shrink rap, hardcover books, shredded paper, scrap steel, water bottles, clean milk jugs, No. 2 plastic and plastic grocery bags. There will be two trucks at the next paper drive.
The first one is newspaper and phone books; the second one will be for everything else. The new recycling drive will be April 10.
