Niles man pleads guilty to shootings outside Dowagiac tavern

CASSOPOLIS -- Christopher Brinkley, 26, of Niles pleaded guilty as charged Monday in Cass County Circuit Court to all 10 felony counts pending against him for the robbery and shooting which took place last summer at The Cottage Tavern outside Dowagiac.
The defendant also received a Cobbs Hearing commitment in the matter for 18 years in prison.
In the Aug. 14, 2003, incident on M-51 South in Pokagon Township, Matthew Kiggins and Jeff Collett were shot by Brinkley when they tried to stop Brinkley and his co-conspirators from completing the robbery.
Brinkley had been charged with:
