NILES – We may have a little town, but we have BIG hearts!!
More than 160 bowlers are registered to knock down pins to knock out breast cancer with the Niles USBC Women's Bowling Association at the Bowl for the Cure 2008 on Feb. 9.
The event will be held at Joey Armadillo's Bowling Center located at 2732 South 11th St. in Niles.
Check-in will begin at 12:15 p.m. and bowling will begin at 1 p.m.
This year, our bowlers plan to raise more than $6,000 to contribute to the Southwestern Michigan Affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Proceeds from local this event will stay in our local community, directly benefiting the community's Susan G. Komen for the Cure Affiliate in their efforts to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
Bowl for the Cure is a fundraising and awareness initiative organized by the United States Bowling Congress.
For more information about Susan G. Komen for the Cure, breast health or breast cancer, visit www.komen.org, call 1-800 I'M AWARE or come to Joey Armadillo's Bowling Center on Feb. 9 and gather more information or speak to our local representative.
Many local businesses have contributed by purchasing banners and donating prizes, money or services.
These donations enable us to put on raffles, silent auctions and a live auction.
They will have everything from autographed sports memorabilia to oil changes. You do not need to be bowling to bid on auction items.
