CASSOPOLIS – Claude Lewis, 73, of 56058 Lake St., Cassopolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind., after an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Gary, Ind., the son of the late Clarence and Louise (Gillis) Lewis Sr.
Claude married the former Donna A. Sturgeon on June 28, 1955, in Cassopolis.
His wife survives, along with: four children, Steven (Kelly) Lewis, Lonnie Lewis and Teresa (Rick) Thompson, all of Marcellus; and Rick (Becky) Lewis of Berrien Center; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence (Michelle) Lewis Jr. of Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Chube.
Claude worked as a quality control manager and safety director with Voyager Corp. in Elkhart.
He was a member of Victory Tabernacle in Dowagiac and a former member of Volinia Baptist Church.
Claude loved playing golf, hunting and being outdoors.
His favorite thing was spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.
Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Jackson, assistant pastor of Victory Tabernacle.
Interment will be in Little Fish Lake Cemetery, Volinia Township.
His family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Victory Tabernacle Church in Dowagiac.
