Dowagiac freshmen win 12th straight

Dowagiac freshmen basketball team made it an even dozen victories on Tuesday night.
The Chieftains defeated visiting Allegan, 61-48.
Brandon Douglas led Dowagiac with 25 points. The Chieftains also got 15 points from Damone Huff and nine points from Jalen Nickens.
Dowagiac grabbed a 19-11 first quarter lead, which it increased to 37-21 by halftime.
The Chieftains took a 47-30 lead into the final quarter.
Dowagiac (13-3) will host Comstock today at 4:15 p.m.
JV basketball
The Dowagiac junior varsity basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 58-49 victory over visiting Allegan on Tuesday night.
Dowagiac trailed 16-9 after one period of play and 22-21 at the intermission.
The Chieftains outscored the Tigers 37-27 in the second half to pull out the victory.
Dowagiac led 42-30 heading into the fourth quarter and then held off the Tigers over the final eight mintues.
Michael Filley and Shaun Bruens led Dowagiac with 16 points, while Zach Russom finished with 13 points.
The Chieftains will host Comstock on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
