The Dowagiac varsity volleyball team lost in three games at Gull Lake on Wednesday night.
The Chieftains were defeated by the Lady Blue Devils, 9-25, 15-25 and 12-25.
"Gull Lake was big and fast, so we made about 50 percent of our plays," Dowagiac coach Carl Greulich said. "The score shows that. Our passing was actually pretty good, but we couldn't move the ball around their blocks. I'm going to make some offensive chances tonight against Berrien Springs and see if we can get more points."
Sarah Shelton and Allison Frontczak led Dowagiac with seven and four kills respectively.
Brittany Gnatz and Brittany Bruens each had six digs for the Chieftains, who also got three blocks each from Bruens and Shelton.
Stephanie Barnas finished the night with 12 assists.
Dowagiac is back on the court tonight as it makes up Monday's non-conference match with visiting Berrien Springs.
