Jerry Rodriguez, director of migrant programs at Dowagiac Union High School, will speak to the Cassopolis Peacejam Club on Wednesday, Feb. 7, about the realities of child labor for migrant families.
The meeting, open to the public, will be held at Cass District Library at 7 p.m.
Peacejam is an international education program built around leading Nobel Peace laureates with the goal to inspire a new generation of peacemakers.
This year's curriculum features the life and work of Rigoberta Menchu Tum, a Mayan Indian from Guatemala.
Rigoberta Menchu Tum was the first indigenous person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which she won in 1992 for her work as a peaceful advocate of native Indian rights in Central America and for her leadership among indigenous peoples worldwide.
