CASSOPOLIS – The Cass County chapter of WAND (Women's Action for New Directions) meets the second and fourth Mondays each month at 5:15 p.m. at Cass District Library.
All women, high school and above, are invited to attend.
WAND is a non-partisan national organization that, since 1980, has "empowered women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism and redirect excessive military resources toward unmet human and environmental needs."
WAND believes it is possible to have a better world in which children attend good schools, everyone has proper health care and women walk the streets in safety.
They work toward these goals by empowering women to act politically, by supporting progressive women who run for office and organizing women state legislators to influence critical budget decisions.
WAND supports lobbyists in Washington who keep a watchful eye on the federal budget and speak up for peace and smart security, lobbying against weapons of mass destruction (WMD), especially nuclear weapons.
The Cass County chapter of WAND currently has committees on Legislative Action, Film Education, Reducing the Impact of Military Recruiters and Environmental Issues.
The next WAND meeting will be Monday, Feb. 12.
