CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Clerk/Register Barb Wilson Thursday announced the appointment of Monica Peters to the position of Chief Deputy Clerk Register.
Peters will assume her duties in the Clerk/Register's office on Monday, Jan. 8.
Wilson explained, "I have re-organized the Clerk Register's office to have one chief deputy. This is a newly-created position that was approved by the Board of Commissioners. The duties include acting as the Clerk/Register in my absence, assisting with all election work, managing the office, overseeing the imaging project and Internet business, and much more."
Peters is not new to the county. Her most recent position was in the county's Information Systems Department as office director.
Prior to that, she worked at Cass County District Library.
"I'm a local girl," Peters said. "I graduated from Ross Beatty High School and the University of Michigan, but came back home to Cass County. I am looking forward to the challenges of the Clerk/Register's office and working with diverse duties."
Peters continued, "Through my position in the Information Systems Department, I was able to work quite a bit with the Clerk/Register's office so I am familiar with the current system and the employees.
"Having a glimpse inside the office has been a big advantage for me. I understand what Barb (Wilson) is looking for in a chief deputy."
Wilson added, "I feel very fortunate to have found someone with her expertise and talent for the Clerk/Register's office. It is especially beneficial that she has such great computer skills and she was already working for the county. I feel confident that she will do a wonderful job."
"There is so much potential in the Clerk/Register's office, especially in the area of automation," Wilson said.
"There are so many more things that can be done and with Monica's expertise, we can reach the goals I have set for the office"
