Edwardsburg tops Bees to finish year at 3-6

BRIDGMAN – It has been a long season for the Edwardsburg varsity football team, however, the Eddies will remember Friday night's 7-3 Lakeland Conference win over host Bridgman.
The Eddies picked up only their third win of the season, but the victory kept the Bees out of the post season. Edwardsburg finishes the year at 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the league.
Edwardsburg dominated the game statistically, but couldn't dent the scoreboard until the final quarter.
The Eddies had 323 yards in total offense, all of which came on the ground. Defensively, Edwardsburg allowed just 163 yards in total offense to the Bees.
The Eddies were 0-for-3 in the passing game. Bridgman ran for just 73 yards and completed 6-of-16 passes for 163 yards.
Kyle Poe scored on a 1-yard run to provid the game-winner for Edwardsburg. Monty Ort added the extra point to complete the scoring.
Bridgman grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second quarter when Seth Coffing connected on a 37-yard field goal.
Ort led the Eddies in rushing with 140 yards on 20 carries. Poe finished with 90 yards on 14 totes. Matt Peters contributed an additional 69 yards on 18 carries.
Ort and Poe also led Edwardsburg defensively as they combined for 16 tackles. Ort had nine stops and Poe seven. Kevin Stack finished with six tackles.
