CASSOPOLIS – A young Vandalia woman was hurt Friday when her eastbound vehicle left Dutch Settlement Street and ran into a wooded area.
Her vehicle rolled over and came to rest near Savage Road in Newberg Township.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. said Sandra Jo Merkley, 18, of Vandalia, was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment of her injuries in the 10:28 a.m. crash Sept. 29.
Newberg fire and ambulance personnel assisted deputies at the scene.
Merkley was wearing her seat belt.
Alcohol was not a factor, the sheriff reported.
