Led by the domination of its doubles teams, the Dowagiac varsity tennis team blanked visiting Plainwell in Wolverine Conference action Monday afternoon.
The Chieftains posted an 8-0 win over the Lady Trojans to set the tone for a very busy two weeks.
Dowagiac will be playing three matches a week for the next 14 days thanks to rain outs the previous two weeks.
The Chieftains will head to Allegan to take on the No. 3 ranked Lady Tigers today and then travel to Gull Lake on Wednesday.
Dowagiac won all eight flights in straight sets. The closest Plainwell got to winning a set came at No. 2 singles where Ashley Smith defeated Jessie Warner 7-5 and 6-0.
"It was nice to get a win like this," Dowagiac coach Chuck Rubino said. "Our doubles looked pretty good today. Ashley battled back after falling behind in that first set and then she dominated the second set."
