Chieftain cross country teams beaten by Gull Lake

The Dowagiac cross country teams opened up Wolverine Conference competition on Tuesday with a meet hosted by Gull Lake.
Gull Lake defeated the Dowagiac boys' team 50-15. Dowagiac did not field a full squad for the girls' meet.
"Hats off to Gull Lake as they've had a strong cross country program for a long time," Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said. "Times are very deceiving as they have a tough, tough course."
Brendan Buck of Gull Lake was the overall boys' winner with a time of 19:41.
Dowagiac's John Morseau was the top Chieftain finisher (9th) with a time of 21:35. Eric Morton finished 10th with a time of 21:45. Evan Bressler was 12th with a clocking of 22:10, while Jason Fryman finished 13th (23:39) and Brandon Wilson 22nd (27:18).
Annie Magin of Gull Lake was the first girl to finish as she posted a time of 25:29.
Kayla Saviano led Dowagiac with an 11th place finish and a time of 26:06. Chelsey Preston was 16th (28:41), Stephanie Muha 19th (29:43) and Katie Hewitt 24th (34:22).
