The Dowagiac freshmen football team dropped to 0-2 Wednesday afternoon with a 33-2 loss to host Three Rivers.
Cody Cox caused a safety early in the contest along with several other Chieftain defenders according to coach Chris Machiniak.
He also singled out Zack Blank, Zack Hatch, John Davis, Cody Nowak and Cody Kolmes for their defensive efforts.
JV football
Dowagiac defeated Three Rivers 20-7 to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Chieftains outscored the Wildcats 14-0 in the second half.
Tim DeRyder, Greg Nelson and Shaun Bruens. Matt Gross had a pair of extra points.
Kevin Mitchell recovered a fumble.
