Chiefs sixth at jamboree

South Haven protected its home course on Monday and its lead in the Wolverine Conference golf standings.
The Rams captured the third league jamboree held at Lake Michigan Hills near Coloma.
South Haven shot a 156 to easily outdistance runner-up Allegan, which finished with a 167. Gull Lake finished third with a team total of 169.
Plainwell and Vicksburg both shot 174. Plainwell took fourth and Vicksburg fifth based on the fifth-man scoring.
Dowagiac finished sixth with a 177, while Otsego took seventh with a 178. Comstock, Three Rivers and Paw Paw rounded out the order of finish with scores of 181, 189 and 226 respectively.
South Haven's Kale Waaso recorded the league's best round-to-date as he shot 35. Three golfers turned in a round of 38. They were Joey Reed of Allegan, Tony Sewell of Allegan and Charlie Smith of Otsego.
Gull Lake's Matt Howe, South Haven's Brad Ford and Comstock's T.J. Haffner all shot 39, while Ryan Marks of South Haven and Dan Schiedel of Vicksburg both shot 40.
Kyle Schau of Gull Lake rounded out the top 10 with a 41.
Tanner Melvin, who shot 43, led Dowagiac. Nick Krizinski and Mike Hoff both shot 44. Kevin Proshwitz finished with a 46 and Richie Hutchinson a 50.
The league returns to action on Wednesday when Paw Paw hosts the next jamboree at Heritage Glen Golf Club.
