Sandberg earns Felpausch ‘Steerhorn’

The 12th annual Felpausch "Steerhorn" award was presented to Ray Sandberg, meat department manager at the Felpausch Food Center in Dowagiac.
The "Steerhorn" award is presented each year to the Felpausch meat department that does the best job of achieving a combination of meat sales improvements, customer satisfaction, dedication to customer service and positive attitude.
"The Dowagiac meat team has done an outstanding job in the past year", said Charlie Fisher, Felpausch meat and seafood director. "Ray has exceeded company goals with a positive attitude. He approaches the job with enthusiasm. His focus is always on improving his department", he added.
Sandberg was presented with the Steerhorn award and trophy at a recent associate stock and ownership dinner in Marshall.
The trophy, topped by a set of steer horns, will be proudly displayed in the meat department at the Dowagiac store for the coming year.
Ray is an avid fisherman. He and his wife Della, have two sons, Andrew 9, and Matthew 8.
They reside in Dowagiac.
Debbie Wallace, general merchandise department manager at the Felpausch Food Center in Dowagiac, and her staff received the company's 11th annual "Brass Broom" award.
The award, also presented to Wallace in Marshall, is designed to recognize outstanding performance.
Factors considered in selecting the award winner were sales and merchandising.
Points were awarded based on sales increases over the last year and merchandising efforts, including displays, tie-ins and in-store promotions.
Wallace was number one in accumulated points for the year 2005.
Debbie has been employed with Felpausch for eight years.
Prior to her service with Felpausch, she was the health and beauty care manager for Village Market.
She enjoys walking, reading and traveling on a Harley.
She and her husband, Garry, and their two girls reside in Dowagiac.
