Essayist, NPR monologist and New York Times bestselling author Sarah Vowell will speak Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dowagiac Middle School Performing Arts Center.
Presented by the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival, Vowell is the fall feature in a long line of noted authors, the very best in current literary figures.
Vowell, called the "female David Sedaris," was named 1997 non-fiction "Rookie of the Year" by Newsweek magazine.
She is the author of four essay collections: "Radio On," "Take the Cannoli: Stories from the New World," "The Party Cloudy Patriot" and "Assassination Vacation."
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "Vowell is and will continue to be one of the most important voices of her generation."
In addition, Vowell is a frequent guest on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
In the world of film, Vowell provided the voice for Violet from the movie "The Incredibles."
Seating for her lecture is limited. Tickets cost $25 for main floor, $20 for the upper level and $60 for the private reception.
Private reception tickets include premium seating for the lecture and are limited to 100.
