The first Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference crossover soccer match was not kind to Niles.
The Vikings dropped to 3-8-2 on the year with a 2-1 loss at Sturgis Tuesday night. Niles hosts Portage Northern for another crossover match Thursday night.
Sturgis scored the first goal 16 minutes into the game.
The Vikings answered when Brian Coulston took a pass from Kyle Kidwell and found the Sturgis net with 9:56 left in the first half.
The Trojans scored the only goal of the second half with 11:38 left in the game.
Sturgis outshot Niles 19-15 and Viking goalkeeper Cory Coquillard had seven saves.
