CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that deputies from his office responded to a head-on personal injury accident Thursday night at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The crash occurred on M-40 near Dutch Settlement Street in Marcellus Township.
One vehicle was being driven by Suzanne Lippert, 57, of Bremen, Ind.
Lippert was traveling south on M-40 when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line, colliding with a northbound vehicle.
Lippert was airlifted to Kalamazoo's Borgess Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the accident.
The northbound vehicle was driven by Carol Riggs, 50, of Marcellus.
Riggs was transported to Borgess for treatment of injuries.
Riggs was listed in stable condition, deputies said.
The passenger of this vehicle was identified as Charles Riggs, 52, of Marcellus.
Charles was transported to Three Rivers Area Hospital, where he was treated and released.
All three individuals were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident at this time, according to the sheriff.
