JV golf squad defeated by LMC

The Dowagiac junior varsity golf team dropped a one-stroke decision to visiting Lake Michigan Catholic on Tuesday at Hampshire Country Club.
The Lakers shot a 195 to nip Dowagiac by one stroke.
Adam Carlson, who is returning from a broken arm, shot 42 to lead the Chieftains.
Mike Hoff finished with a 50, while Jeremy Shank and Tanner Melvin both shot 52. Hunter Topping and Trent Fryman finished with a 55 and 68 respectively.
The Chieftains finished third on Monday at the Big 16 Conference West Division jamboree held at Hampshire Country Club.
Lakeshore won the jamboree with a score of 178. St. Joseph was second with a 191 and Dowagiac third with a 218. Niles did not have a team score.
Mike Hoff led Dowagiac with a 50. Tanner Melvin shot 51 with Hunter Topping and Trent Fryman shooting 51 and 66 respectively.
Dowagiac will conclude its schedule on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Big 16 junior varsity invitational hosted by Battle Creek Lakeview.
JV tennis
The Dowagiac junior varsity tennis team split with Lakeshore Monday afternoon in Stevensville in Big 16 Conference West Division action.
The Chieftains won four matches to earn the split with the Lady Lancers.
Winning for Dowagiac in singles were Jessica Robinson (8-3) and Jessica Karnes (8-4).
Winning doubles matches were Brianne Emmons and Amanda Cross (8-3) and Chelsea Allison and Emmons (8-2).
Dowagiac is back in action today as it travels to Portage Central for a Big 16 Conference crossover match.
The Chieftains will host Eau Claire on Thursday. Today's match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday's non-conference match will begin at 4 p.m.
