Dowagiac to face Edwardsburg on Saturday at invitational

Dowagiac will open its soccer season on Saturday at the Edwardsburg Invitational by facing the host school.
The Eddies and Chieftains will get the tournament started at 9 a.m. on the main varsity field behind the high school.
Watervliet Grace Christian and Sturgis will play on the junior varsity field, which is north of the main soccer field, also at 9 a.m.
The finals will be held at 11 a.m. on the main soccer field. The consolation match will start at 11 as well and will be played on the junior varsity field.
Last year the Chieftains were edged by Sturgis in the opening round on a late second half own goal, 1-0.
Dowagiac actually dominated in the contest as it outshot Sturgis 20-11.
Aaron Wilson, who was making his first varsity start, had 10 saves.
Dowagiac rebounded to defeat Watervliet Grace Christian in the consolation match, 3-1
Dowagiac got a pair of goals from Brian Edgerly and a goal from Kyle Kowalski to defeat Grace Christian.
Both Edgerly and Kowalski return for the Chieftains this season.
Wilson, who also returns this season, finished with three saves. Dowagiac outshot Grace Christian 19-5 in the consolation match.
Admission is $3 for the entire day.
