Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees reviewed results of a four-month administrative study regarding the effect of state budget cuts and studied the results of a recent community survey for prioritizing programs and services.
Related to the funding issue, trustees also heard details concerning the recent decision from the State of Michigan to provide 50-percent funding for the creation of an Information Technology (I.T.) certification center on the College's Dowagiac campus.
At the conclusion of this discussion, trustees voted unanimously to submit a millage support request to voters at the Nov. 8 general election.
In other business, President David Mathews also updated trustees regarding recent and upcoming events.
SMC kicked off the 2005-2006 school year with freshman orientation on Aug. 17, 18 and 19.
