NILES -- It's not easy to house a dozen 10-year-old boys for up to a week.
It's not cheap either.
That's why the parents of the F.O.P. Little League 10-year-old All-Stars are trying feverishly to raise money this week in preparation for the team's trip to the State Tournament in Jackson.
The All-Stars won the District 15 Tournament to earn the right to play for the State title in the tournament which starts on Saturday.
The Niles team will take on the host team, Jackson, at 4 p.m. on Glick field.
The tournament lasts until Sunday, Aug. 10, so the F.O.P. All-Stars could be in for a long stay in Jackson.
To help cover some of the upcoming costs, the team held a car wash at Auto Zone Wednesday afternoon from 3-7 p.m.
The team is also selling tubs of cookie dough. The cost is $10 for a three-pound tub and can be purchased by calling Lori Zimmerman at 687-2809.
The 10-year-olds are only the second team in F.O.P. Little League history to reach a state tournament.
The F.O.P. 12-year-old All-Stars played in the Michigan State Tournament last weekend, winning one of their three games as the first F.O.P. team every to play at that level.
Anyone interested in donating money or helping the 10-year-old All-Stars in any other way during their quest for a State championship can contact Zimmerman at 687-2809.
