Michigan State Police in Niles are investigating an early morning crash today involving two motorcycles which sent one of the drivers to the hospital and the other on the run.
According to Lt. Mike Brown, the accident occurred on Bell Road near the intersection of Ironwood Road in Milton Township, Cass County.
The motorcycles were apparently traveling together when both of them veered off the roadway and crashed.
The driver of one of the motorcycles involved is a 23-year-old Niles man. He was taken to Lakeland Hospital for minor injuries.
Preliminary results of the MSP's investigation revealed that the Niles man had a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit.
The driver of the second motorcycle, police said, fled the scene on foot and at press time, police had not identified the suspect.
