Sister Lakes Volunteer Fire Department (SLVFD) will be dedicating its new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) addition during its 60th anniversary celebration to one of the department's founding fathers, Dale Swisher.
Dale Swisher passed away in November 2004 after 50 years of faithful service to the SLVFD and community.
The fire department will be hosting the dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, according to Auxiliary President Cyndi Lozada.
The EMS addition came in 2002. It now houses the department's two ambulances and a rescue truck. The original station, built in 1945, was cramped with the ambulances, as well as two grass trucks, a dive/water rescue van, a ladder truck, a pumper truck and two tanker trucks. SLVFD responds to a number of calls, including fires, vehicle extrication, water emergencies and medical emergencies.
