Harper Creek hands Dowagiac setback

Host Battle Creek Harper Creek took advantage of seven Dowagiac errors Thursday afternoon to post an 11-6 Big 16 Conference non-division victory over the Chieftains.
Harper Creek scored three runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth to account for its runs.
Dowagiac (3-2) tallied twice in the second, third and fifth innings.
Jordan Huey took the loss as he worked and inning and a third, allowing six runs on eight hits with two walks.
Jamie Simpson worked two innings, allowing five runs on two hits with two strike outs and three walks.
Matt Odisher earned the mound victory for Harper Creek. Odisher worked six innings, allowing six runs on nine hits with five strike outs and a walk.
Matt Todson tripled and drove in a run to lead the Chieftains offensively.
Brandon Simmons added a double.
Dowagiac also got a single and an RBI from David Stuppy, two hits from Rob Duszynski and a two-run single from Nick File.
Dowagiac is back in action on Tuesday against Kalamazoo Loy Norrix.
