The Dowagiac junior varsity basketball team played well in falling to Benton Harbor Friday night, 69-50.
The Chieftains hung with the Tigers through the first half and well into the third quarter before Benton Harbor put the game away.
The Chieftains trailed just 18-13 after one period of play and 34-28 at the intermission.
Benton Harbor outscored Dowagiac 22-10 in the third quarter to seal the victory.
The Tigers held a 13-12 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes.
Andrew Cuthbert led Dowagiac with 19 points. Freddie Soto added 11 points, while DJ Edgerly finished with six.
