Niles gets revenge in winning New Buffalo title

NEW BUFFALO - Revenge!
The Niles varsity volleyball team gained a measure of revenge Saturday afternoon as it defeated Dowagiac in the finals of the New Buffalo Invitational.
The Lady Vikings, who lost to Dowagiac two weeks ago in a Big 16 Conference West Division match, knocked off the Chieftains in the title match of the rescheduled tournament, 25-6 and 25-12.
Niles finished first in pool play while the Chieftains were second, Eau Claire third, Michigan Lutheran fourth, New Buffalo fifth and Watervliet Grace Christian sixth.
The Chieftains and Lady Vikings split in pool play with Niles taking the first game, 26-24, and Dowagiac winning the second game, 25-20.

JV volleyball
The Dowagiac junior varsity volleyball team finished third on Saturday at the Bangor Invitational.
In pool play Dowagiac defeated Bangor (21-12, 21-16), Martin (21-8, 21-10), Fennville (21-14, 21-15) and split with Schoolcraft (14-21, 21-12).
In the semifinals, Dowagiac lost to Kalamazoo Christian, 21-15, 14-21 and 11-15.
Top performers on the day were Allison Frontczak, Amber Clark, Katy Stuppy, Jill Wiesemes, Calie Daniels and Sarah Shelton.
