Niles wins opener

The Niles varsity golf team opened its season on Monday with a victory over St. Joseph, Cassopolis and Centreville at the Orchard Hills Country Club.
The Vikings shot 157 to edge the Bears, who finished with a 159.
The Rangers and Bulldogs finished with scores of 186 and 207 respectively.
The Vikings' Chris Noble earned medalist honors with a round of 35, which included a double eagle on the 456-yard ninth hole. Noble used a driver and a 6-iron to pick up the rare double eagle.
Niles also got a 38 from Nick Musser, a 41 from Brett Phillips, a 43 from Colin Latislaw, a 49 from Cole Hensel and a 50 from Christian Ezell.
Cassopolis was led by Landon Wright's 43.
Kim Vaughn and Blaise Suseland both shot 45, while Chris Coutes shot 53, Aaron Goodrich 56 and Caleb Oliver 71.
The Vikings will now have some time off before returning to action on April 14 at Hampshire Country Club against Dowagiac.
