Bears sweep jamboree

St. Joseph swept the Big 16 Conference West Division jamboree held at Southwestern Michigan College on Wednesday afternoon.
St. Joseph's Anna Burch led the Lady Bears to victory as she captured first place with a time of 20:46.
St. Joseph finished with 18 points, while Lakeshore was second with 55 points, Niles third with 81 and Dowagiac fourth with 90.
Andy Lawrick of Lakeshore was the boy's overall winner with a time of 16:52.
St. Joseph won the meet with 24 points, while Niles was second with 46 and Lakeshore third with 63.
Dowagiac took fourth with 105 points and Benton Harbor fifth with 153.
Amanda VanHusan finished fifth in the girl's race with a time of 22:11. Leah Dohm was 25th, while Lori Key was 29th, Kayla Saviano 30th, Katie Hewitt 32nd, Ashley Willis 33rd, Catherine Hamilton 38th and Chelsey Preston 40th.
Jason Tabbert was ninth in the boy's race with a time of 18:37. Andrew Cuthbert was 25th, while Evan Bressle was 27th, Adam Hess 29th, Michael Kasper 34th, Andrew Howard 35th and Tony Saviano 43rd.
Dowagiac's next meet will be at Battle Creek Central on Oct. 2. The final West Division jamboree will be Oct. 6 a St. Joe.
