Dogwood Festival wins award

ANN ARBOR -- Dowagiac's Dogwood Fine Arts Festival is a winner of the 2004 Great Lakes Community Arts Award, Deborah Mikula, executive director of the Michigan Association of Community Arts Agencies (MACAA), sponsor of the award, announced Wednesday.
Rich Frantz, president of the Dogwood Festival, said, "The Dogwood Festival is very appreciative of this prestigious award. It is a tribute to the hundreds of committee members and volunteers who have toiled so mightily to make this one of the premier fine arts festivals in the area.
Recipients of the Great Lakes Community Awards are selected by a jury of their peers.
This year, more than 75 organizations were nominated for the award and the jury selected five winners. "It was a difficult decision," are selected by a jury of their peers.

Representatives of MACAA will present the award prior to the performance of Robert L. Reed and the Encore Dance Company on May 8.
The Dogwood Festival runs from May 7 through May 15.
