On Tuesday, Dec. 16, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., will speak at the Council on Aging in Cassopolis at an informational session sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties.
The session will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Council on Aging complex on Decatur Road just one mile east of the Village of Cassopolis on M-60.
Sen. Stabenow will speak for 20 minutes, and attendees will have the following 40 minutes to ask questions.
The meeting is open to all; public participation is encouraged.
Questions raised by the health care debate have included: Is the United States headed toward the end of Medicare? Should those in need of reasonably priced drugs be barred from purchasing them in Canada, for instance? Why is the United States the only country in the world without universal health care coverage for the elderly and the poor? Will the Social Security program fall into privitization?
