Strong effort not enough for Chieftains

The Dowagiac varsity basketball team gave visiting Paw Paw everything it had Saturday night before falling, 52-35.
After falling behind 16-2 to start the game, Dowagiac played nearly even with the 11-2 Lady Redskins.
Dowagiac (2-10) cut the lead to nine points early in the second half, but could get no closer. Paw Paw led 29-15 at the half and 40-28 heading into the fourth quarter.
Jennifer Pilot led the Chieftains with 13 points. Dowagiac also got 11 points from Brittney Reist and seven points from Brianne Reist.
Paw Paw was led by Julie Baltmanis, who scored a game-high 18 points. Ashley Schinske added 15.
