CASSOPOLIS -- A Dowagiac woman and her children were injured in a crash Thursday morning in Silver Creek Township when she missed an intersection in the dense fog.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reported his deputies investigated the personal-injury accident that occurred at 7:08 a.m. Aug. 7 at Indian Lake Road and Dixon Street.
Pamela Sexton, 31, of Dowagiac, was northbound on Indian Lake Road when she traveled straight through a "T" intersection, ran off the road and struck a tree.
It is believed that the dense fog reduced visibility to an extent that she did not see the intersection, the sheriff said.
All parties were using their safety belts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Sister Lakes and Dowagiac ambulances transported Sexton and her two children to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
From there, Sexton was transported to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Her children were taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Also assisting at the scene were Sister Lakes Fire and Rescue and Indian Lake Fire and Rescue.
