Buchanan’s Torrie Eger finishes ninth

PORTAGE – Sunny skies and crisp fall air led to perfect running conditions for the Portage Central Invitational on Saturday.
Buchanan's Torrie Eger and Elizabeth Hein both medaled as the Lady Bucks finished 11th in the girls' race.
Eger finished ninth overall with a time of 19:42, while Hein was 30th with a clocking of 20:39.
Alyssa Kruchkow posted a 22:17, followed by Courtney Adolph (23:52), Ashley Best (23:55), Chelsea Adolph (24:12) and Amanda Lindamood (26:36).
In the girls' junior varsity race, Katie Elliott finished at (27:03), followed by Elizabeth Panama (30:48), and Kacie Lemon (32:04).
Leading the way for the boys' team was Rick Reith (18:53), followed by John Kuntz (19:28), Josh Tidey (20:53) and Jacob Ferris (21:25).
Buchanan did not have enough runners to post a team score.
"It was a great day to run," Buchanan coach Bruce Hipshear said. We had several kids run their best times so far this year. I'm proud of everyone."
Edwardsburg was 40th in the girls' race, led by Kaitlyn Buzalski's 174th place finish and a time of 22:14.
Lindsay Ward ran a time of 23:31, Kim Billings a 23:32, Jessica Buzalski a 24:03, Lauren Clark a 24:43, Kara Hodges a 24:49 and Justine Lewis a 25:54.
The Eddies finished 41st in the boys' race.
Josh Clark finished 167th with a time of 18:10 to lead the way for Edwardsburg.
Pat Reck ran 19:48, Josh Klosinski a 19:57, Matt Derucki a 20:50, Victor Schultz a 21:03, A.J. Chrapliwy a 21:15 and Daniel Crowell a 22:05.
