John Robert Bowers, 60, of Barron Lake Road, Niles, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at home suddenly, but of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 9, 1952, in Niles to John Francis Bowers and Joyce Marie Clark. He graduated from Niles High School in 1971 and lived in the area his whole life. John was a woodworker for Westgate Industries in Cassopolis. He was a train hobbyist and enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his father, John Francis (Mary) Bowers, of Edwardsburg; brother, Kenneth Ray (Karen) Bowers, of Niles; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Marie Bowers, who died Nov. 26, 2011.

The family will gather privately for services at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
