Clarence ‘Lee’ Bartrum, 71

Clarence Lee Bartrum, 71, of Niles, passed away July 15, 2012, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.

He was born Aug. 4, 1940, to the late Clarence J. and Brunetta Mae (Barton) Bartrum in New Washington, Ind.
On May 4, 1996, in Las Vegas, he married Sandra Stark, who survives.

He retired from National-Standard after 32 years of service in 2001. Since his retirement, he and Sandra wintered in Pinellas Park, Fla.

He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the United Steel Workers Union.

Clarence is also survived by one daughter, Diana (Chuck) Schosker; stepdaughter, Cynthia Tompkins, and one stepson, George (Linda) Nicholos, both from Colorado Springs, Colo.; Sandra’s stepchildren, David (Sue) Stark and Pam (Duane) Meyers, both of Niles; one sister, Margie Bartrum, of Lexington, Ky.; and one brother, Burton (Irene) Bartrum, of Golden Valley, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Ullmer, Anthony (Diana Pena) Ullmer, Earl Schosker, Georgina and Cassandra Nicholos, all of South Bend, Stephanie (Mark) Saunders, of Fort Collins, Colo., Alex Nicholos, of Colorado Springs, Travis (Taina) Meyers and Nicole (Kevin) Deming, both of Niles; nine great-grandchildren, Maddi Ullmer, Abbey Brummett, Alyssa Pena, all of South Bend, Eryn Saunders, of Fort Collins, Courtney and Mallory Meyers and Tyler, Drew and Jase Deming, all of Niles.

He was preceded in death by former wife, Goldie Nicholos; brother, Thomas Barton; three sons, Jeffrey, Randall and Darin Bartrum.

Services for Clarence are Friday, July 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Hoven Funeral Home with Robbie Wentz officiating.

Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
