William “Bill” Nelson Bussard, 88, formerly of Niles, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

A native of Collison, Ill., he was born Aug. 31, 1923, the son of the late Guy and Mary McMaster Bussard. He was a veteran of the United States Army/Air Force, serving as a tail gunner with a B-24 Bomb Group. He was retired as a process engineer with Bendix of St. Joseph. He was a communicate of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Eleonora Bussard, of Jackson, Tenn.; a son, Joe Bussard, of Quincy, Mich.; three daughters, Mary Dombkowski, of Niles, Patricia Mudd,of Venice, Fla., and Barbara Bussard, of Jackson, Tenn.; a brother, Bud Bussard of Urbana, Ill.; three sisters, Doris Rommerskhirchen, of Danville, Ill., and Edna Dalle of Danville; and a granddaughter, Caitlin Bussard of Chicago.
