Raymond L. Beck, 81, of Island Drive, Edwardsburg, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles, following an extended illness.
Memorial services may be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1926, in South Bend, Ind., to Louis C. Beck and Ruby A. (Curran) Beck. He was a lifetime area resident.
He retired in 1992, after 45 years of service for Tyler Refrigeration in Niles.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 365 in Edwardsburg.
On Nov. 30, 1946, in Niles, he married Mary Louise (Hess) Beck, who survives.
Additional surviving family includes a daughter, Cheryl D. Yoder of Edwardsburg; a son, Jerald R. Beck of Lemon Grove, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and two sisters, Janet Hauch of Stevensville and Julane White of Citra, Fla.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marianne Wright, who died on April 22, 2007; Dorothy Crocker, who died on Dec. 2, 2001 and Judy Beck, who died in 1940.
