DOWAGIAC – On Thursday, June 19, the Athletic Boosters will host the 5th Annual Chieftain Golf Outing at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course.
Proceeds from this event, which in the past four years has raised over $90,000, will go to the Dowagiac Schools' Foundation and the Athletic Booster Club to benefit our schools' students as well as athletes.
To become involved in this event, you or your business may sponsor a hole for $100, sponsor a contest hole for $250, contribute to the scholarship fund for $500, or be a gold sponsor for $1,000. Sponsorships at all of these levels are still available.
Teams are filling up fast, but there is still some room available. The entry fee for a team is $400 or individuals are welcome at $100.
This year, the boosters are pleased to announce that former Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs pitcher Phil "The Vulture" Regan will be in attendance at the outing. Regan pitched for the Tigers (1960-65), the LA Dodgers (1966-68), the Cubs (1968-72) and the White Sox (1972).
Regan coached at Grand Valley State University before moving on to the professional ranks as an advanced scout, minor league pitching coach, major league pitching coach, and manager with the Mariners, Dodgers, Indians and Orioles. He was also the pitching coach for the Cubs and served as the USA pitching coach at the Summer Olympics in Sydney.
Regan returned to West Michigan in 2002 to serve as the manager for the West Michigan Whitecaps (2000-03).
The Athletic Booster Club is pleased to have Mr. Regan join us for this fundraising event.
