Arthur James Horton III, 58, of Eaton Road, Galien, died at 7:18 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at his home, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with Pastor Terry D. White, of Beacon Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Three Oaks.
Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1949, in Three Oaks, to Arthur James Horton, Jr. and Irma Louise Dover. He lived in this area all of his life and attended Three Oaks schools.
Horton worked in construction most of his life. He was also employed at Fapco for many years.
He formerly attended Grace Baptist Church in South Bend, Ind. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, yardwork and caring for his family.
On Dec. 15, 1968, in Bridgman, he married Connie E. (Payne) Horton, who survives.
Additional surviving family includes two daughters, Debra (Henry) Foster of Galien and Shawn (James) Bennett of Niles; two sons, Jamie Horton of Wilksboro, N.C. and Chad (April) Horton of Buchanan; a granddaughter, Khloe Horton; two sisters, Donna Benson of Berrien Springs and Ellen Zebell of Three Oaks; and six brothers, Robert Horton of Bridgman, David Horton of Galien, Russell Horton of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeff Horton of Three Oaks, Don Horton of North Carolina and Rex Horton of Elkhart, Ind. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Norris, who died on Dec. 5, 2004 and a brother, John "Doc" Horton, who died March 5, 2007.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
