S. Thomas Medders, 81, of Cherry Street, Niles, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his home, unexpectedly, but of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Faith United Methodist Church, Buchanan, with the Rev. Christopher Kruchkow of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
There will be no visitation.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Niles to William Louis Medders and Nellie Sue Holmes.
He lived all of his life in Niles and attended Niles Community Schools.
Medders was retired from the former Bud Kerley Sales and had worked at the former Woods Beverage.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 7 in Kalamazoo. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Air Force.
He participated on area bowling and softball leagues.
On July 9, 1955, in Niles, he married Billie V. (Murphy) Medders, who survives.
Additional surviving family includes three daughters, Sue (Thomas) Voss of South bend, Ind., Nancy Jo. Koster of Arizona and Shelia (Ted) True of Niles; two sons, Michael (Ruth) Murphy and Clifford Murphy of Niles; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, William Medders of Niles.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
