BERRIEN SPRINGS – Lakeland Rehabilitation is taking names of interested participants for a new set of classes starting soon for Tai Chi for Arthritis. Classes will be held Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks at Lakeland Rehabilitation, located in the University Medical Center next to Apple Valley at 9045-B U.S. 31 in Berrien Springs.
Scientific studies have proven that Tai Chi for Arthritis can relieve pain, reduce falls, and improve the quality of life.
A certified Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor teaches fundamental movements, which are adapted to each student's comfort level to improve muscular strength, flexibility, and fitness. Once they learn the fundamental movements, including warm-up and wind-down breathing exercises, students will be able to practice them on their own at home.
Total cost for the eight-week program is $40.
Pre-registration and a medical release from your physician are required. Anyone interested in the program should call (269) 471-7621.
